Special victims detectives need the public’s help in tracking down a rapist in Brooklyn who sexually assaulted a young woman last month.
The NYPD released late on Thursday night images and video of the perpetrator sought for the attack, which occurred at about 5 a.m. on April 16 in the vicinity of East 56th Street and Mill Lane in Flatlands.
Law enforcement sources said the victim, an 18-year-old woman, had met the victim previously. During the meetup, the sources said, he apparently invited her back to his apartment, where the sexual assault occurred.
The victim managed to flee the scene on her own power, police reported. She was taken via private means to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident was later reported to the 63rd Precinct. Through April 26, the precinct had reported seven rape cases, up from six at the same point in 2025.
Video footage of the suspect in the April 16 case shows the suspect walking around inside a convenience store prior to the attack.
He is pictured with a medium complexion and wearing a black baseball cap with a white logo on the front, an open, black short-sleeved shirt with white trims over a blue t-shirt, dark-colored pants and black-and-white sneakers.
Anyone with information regarding the sexual assault or the suspect’s whereabouts can call the NYPD’s Sex Crimes Hotline at 212-267-7273 or 646-610-7272; or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
