NEW YORK (WABC) — February is a big month for some of the best deals of the year, whether you’re in the market for a new kitchen, a new bed, or something in between.
And after all this snow, you may be feeling the winter blues, so a little retail therapy might be exactly what the doctor ordered.
The month begins with a bang as Super Bowl Sunday kicks things off.
Then, midmonth, comes that special day for sweethearts, which falls on a Saturday this year.
Just two days later, we have a federal holiday, Presidents Day on the 16th.
All of that adds up to plenty of opportunities for sales and savings throughout the month.
So what should you avoid buying in February? Experts say you’ll want to wait on tech purchases like laptops, phones, and computers, which tend to see better prices on Black Friday.
If you need something sooner, Memorial Day sales are usually a better bet.
Flowers are also going to be pricey this time of year because of Valentine’s Day, and spring apparel is typically at its peak pricing as shoppers rush to grab the newest styles.
As for winter gear like hats, coats, gloves, boots, and sweaters, those items usually start going on sale this month, but with unpredictable weather, discounts haven’t dropped quite yet.
And while chocolate remains the number one Valentine’s Day gift, it’s usually cheaper on February 15th, helpful if you’re shopping afterward, but not so much if you’re buying for the big day itself.
