CORTLANDT MANOR, Westchester County (WABC) — A 17-year-old girl was killed and a 15-year-old boy was critically injured in an early morning fire in Westchester County.
The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. on Sherwood Road in Cortlandt Manor.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy flames throughout the two-story building.
The two teens were pulled from a second floor bedroom by firefighters using ladders.
The mother was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man in his 20s also suffered minor injuries. Officials said he lived in the lower level of the home.
The cause of the fire appears to be an overloaded extension cord or power strip, officials say.
