Bronx detectives are searching for the suspect who shot a teenager near a public housing complex on Wednesday morning.
The NYPD released early on Thursday morning an image of the perpetrator sought for the shooting that occurred near the Soundview Houses, at the corner of Seward and Rosedale Avenues, at about 7:25 a.m. on May 6.
Law enforcement sources said the victim, a 14-year-old boy, was inside the rear of a parked vehicle, waiting for a ride to school, when the shooter approached and opened fire multiple times. One of the rounds struck the youth in the left thigh.
Police sources said it appeared the teenager was deliberately targeted by the gunman. There was no word on whether anyone else was inside the vehicle at the time the boy was shot.
The motive for the shooting, however, remains unknown and under investigation at this time, sources said.
After firing the shots, police reported, the perpetrator fled on foot northbound along Rosedale Avenue.
The incident was reported to the 43rd Precinct and NYPD Public Service Area 8. EMS rushed the wounded teen to Jacobi Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police described the shooting suspect as a man with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a black sweater over a black t-shirt.
