Rudy Giuliani, the former two-term mayor of New York City, is currently at a Florida hospital in “critical but stable condition,” according to his spokesperson.
The reason why Giuliani, 81, was hospitalized was not immediately disclosed. Ted Goodman, the spokesperson who issued a statement on May 3 about the former mayor’s hospitalization, asked the public for prayers.
“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same strength now,” Goodman said in a statement.
This is the second time Giuliani has been hospitalized in the past year. In August 2025, he was seriously injured in a New Hampshire car crash.
Giuliani served two terms as New York City’s mayor from 1994 to 2001, elected on a tough-on-crime agenda. He is credited with revitalizing New York City during the late 1990s, and for his leadership during and after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
In recent years, he worked as an attorney for President Donald Trump, representing him in numerous failed attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, which Joe Biden won.
