EAST WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) — The two suspects charged with second-degree murder in the deadly shooting of a 7-month-old baby girl in Brooklyn will be arraigned today, sources say.
Suspects Amuri Greene and Matthew Rodriguez are accused of killing 7-month-old Kaori Patterson Moore in her stroller in East Williamsburg.
There was a large turnout yesterday for her funeral, and Reverend Al Sharpton gave her eulogy.
The suspects are also charged in the shooting of the victim’s 2-year-old brother, who was grazed by a bullet.
Investigators say that this was a gang-motivated shooting.
Kaori Patterson-Moore was being pushed in a stroller by her mother when shots rang out.
As people ran for cover, the baby’s mother, father and 2-year-old brother fled to a nearby bodega where they realized Kaori had been shot.
Kaori’s father then rushed her to the nearby Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Her family is completely distraught by the loss of their beloved child.
Police say their suspects tried to get away after the shooting but collided with a car.
Greene was taken to the hospital and into custody and Rodriguez got away but was later found, arrested and extradited to New York
We’ll bring you coverage of the arraignment this morning.
