Brooklyn detectives believe the man shot to death in his Brooklyn apartment on Sunday morning was killed following a dispute with the prime suspect: his girlfriend’s teenage son, sources close to the case said.
Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Jamal Davis. He was fatally gunned down inside his 12th-floor apartment at around 10:52 a.m. on April 12 at 75 Cumberland Walk in Fort Greene.
Sources with immediate knowledge of the incident report that the 16-year-old son of his girlfriend, who lived with Davis, shot him in the chest and arm following a dispute.
Davis was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A report from ABC7 suggests the confrontation stemmed from an argument over smoking inside the apartment, but amNewYork has been unable to independently verify it.

The teenage suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
The slaying drew a heavy police presence, including NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit, who entered the building with long guns and armored shields, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing.
