A Brooklyn man was arraigned on attempted murder charges after allegedly pushing a 72-year-old man into a moving subway train at a Bronx station on New Year’s Day, authorities said.
Anton Aleshin, 29, pleaded not guilty and was held without bail after his arraignment Thursday, according to court records.
Police said they responded to a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station, where the victim had been pushed into a southbound 4 train arriving at the platform.
The victim sustained cuts to his head and lost consciousness, according to a criminal complaint. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition, police said.
Aleshin was arrested about 20 minutes after the attack and charged with attempted murder and assault, officials said.
Police reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses and the defendant, according to the complaint.
Aleshin’s attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
