New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani announced his Inaugural Committee on Wednesday, ahead of his swearing-in block party on January 1.
A diverse group, including recognizable figures such as educator and YouTuber Ms. Rachel and actress and activist Cynthia Nixon, as well as field leads for Mamdani’s campaign, has provided input on the event and will also join the Mayor-elect as hosts of the inauguration.
“I’m honored to be joined by some of the most creative and experienced minds in the city as we build an inauguration that is truly by and for New Yorkers,” Mamdani said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Mamdani’s transition team announced he would be sworn into by New York Attorney General Letitia James and Senator Bernie Sanders.
The 2026 Inauguration Block Party is a free, public event, but space is limited, and guests must RSVP at www.transition2025.com/inauguration.
