ANAHEIM, Calif. — Talk about happily ever after! This is a fairytale love story with Disneyland as one of the main characters.
Richard and Cynthia Borrud chose Southern California and Disneyland for their honeymoon in 1955 – about a month after the park first opened.
“When we heard of Disneyland, we decided that was the ultimate destination of our honeymoon,” Richard Borrud said. “We’ve been here 70 years in a row.”
For 70 years, the couple has returned every single anniversary, logging more than 70 trips to the “Happiest Place on Earth.” And they still remember that first trip like it was yesterday.
“The castle – that was impressive. And the train, going through the tunnel, seeing the Grand Canyon,” Cynthia Borrud said. “We’ve had wonderful memories… 70 years.”
The 92- and 93-year-old are proving that like Disneyland, true love never goes out of style.
