A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 7:27 p.m. for black ice until Saturday at 2 a.m. for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
“Lingering rain and snow showers continue to wet roads as colder air is filtering in to the area. There is potential for black ice to develop through the evening and overnight as temperatures fall below freezing. This may lead untreated surfaces and roads becoming slick. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution. Reduce speed, allow extra time, and be prepared for areas of slippery travel,” according to the weather service.
