MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) — “‘Twas the Night Before,” a Christmas show by Cirque du Soleil, is performing through Dec. 28 at Madison Square Garden, and the team behind the production offered a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals.
“It’s a small cast and crew, but it’s amazing what we can do with these artists and performers,” said “Twas the Night Before” company manager Heather Reilly. “We’ve taken the story and broken it into segments, and with each one, it’s paired with an act that is the right blend of acrobatics or music or both. It’s just a wonderful, wonderful mix.”
The story follows a teenager named Isabella, who goes from jaded and disinterested to “just absorbed into the world of Christmas.” In doing this, “that spark and that joy come back to life in her.”
“Of all the shows I’ve worked on, this is the most family friendly one we’ve done,” said Reilly.
One of the performers in “‘Twas the Night Before…” teased that the show features “some acts that are unique in the world, that- that are only on this show, out of all the Cirque du Soleil shows out there.”
The performer added that, “There’s going to be acrobats from all over the world, you know, China, Brazil, France, United States.”
With the performer saying the show will “surprise” audiences, it is clear why Reilly asserts that this is not a show to miss this holiday season.
