Police are investigating after an early morning brawl outside of a Queens restaurant on Sunday turned into a shooting that left a man hospitalized.
According to authorities, the alcohol-fueled fight occurred just after 5 a.m. inside the Mexican Cocina bar and restaurant located at 73-18 Northern Blvd. in Jackson Heights. The altercation began at the restaurant and moved to the street following a verbal dispute. Things drastically escalated when the suspect brandished a firearm and opened fire.
The gunman shot the 30-year-old victim multiple times in the torso, back, and buttocks. Police from the 115 Precinct and EMS responded to the incident. Medics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is expected to survive. Sources familiar with the incident report that the victim is not cooperating with the police investigation.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, fled in a white van in an unknown direction.
