Cops in Queens are investigating yet another shooting involving a teenager, this time aboard a subway train on Monday night.
The 15-year-old boy was shot and seriously injured while riding a Manhattan-bound A train near the 80th Street station in Ozone Park just after 6 p.m. on April 27. He is expected to survive his injuries, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who called the latest act of gun violence “an unacceptable incident.”
“Violence like this has no place on our subway system, and my administration is committed to doing everything in our power to make every New Yorker—especially children—safe on their daily commutes,” Mamdani wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “The NYPD is investigating the shooting, and our administration will share more information as appropriate.”
Cops say the 15-year-old boy was struck with a bullet wound to the chest. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Police say they are on the hunt for three teenagers who fled from the train after the shots were fired.
Rush hour commuters were sent running for their lives when a volley of rounds was fired on board as the train pulled into the 80th Street stop.
“People were sitting on their way to the station when I heard two shots fired,” rider junior told amNewYork. ‘The train stopped, and police started running down the platform, and they told everyone to come downstairs.”

Monday’s shooting occurred less than two weeks after 15-year-old Jaden Pierre was beaten and shot to death inside Roy Wilkins Park in St. Albans. The death left the community outraged and anguished. Police have since apprehended the alleged shooter, who appeared to be tied to local gang activity.
So far, no arrests have been made in Monday’s shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
