City medical examiners are investigating human remains discovered inside a storage area under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Queens, police said Wednesday.
NYPD officials said officers found the remains around 11 a.m. Tuesday after a man called 911 and directed them to the space near Exit 41 on Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights.
Police said it is unclear if the skeletal remains belonged to a man or woman and how long they had been in the storage area.
The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the person’s cause of death and whether it resulted from a crime, according to the NYPD.
Officials made no immediate arrests in connection with the remains.
