Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again” is back for the highly anticipated second season.
It’s set on the streets of New York City, which is exactly where we caught up with the stars who say we are getting eight new episodes with bigger stakes, blockbuster action, and intense emotion.
“We’re doing things that we’ve never done before,” says Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays William Fisk/Kingpin.
“It’s really exciting,” adds Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil. “It’s some of the coolest stuff we’ve done.”
The off-screen friends and on-screen archrivals are back for the highly anticipated season two of the hit series.
“It’s a kind of a slower build, but it crescendos in an unbelievable way,” says Cox. “It’s a very explosive ending.”
Cox is back as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who moonlights as the vigilante Daredevil.
D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, the crime boss known as Kingpin. He’s now the mayor of New York City, where martial law rules.
D’Onofrio is a Brooklyn native.
“The city is almost like the main character of the show,” he says. “As a New Yorker, you know, I think we’re going to deliver.”
Thanks to Fisk, New York City is under threat. Daredevil and his allies are fighting from the underground.
Much of the production is happening here, on the real streets of the city.
“It’s like this huge thing that I don’t think we’ll ever experience on this kind of scale again,” says D’Onofrio.
The creators say they’re already shooting season three, with both the action, and the humanity, getting bigger and deeper.
“Daredevil is very much real people with sort of strange wants and desires and challenges and vulnerabilities,” says executive producer Sana Amanat.
“And now we get to dig in on them,” adds Executive Producer and Showrunner Dario Scardapane.
D’Onofrio and Cox have been in these roles for more than a decade. With each scene, they say the stakes are higher.
“We care so much, we work so hard,” says Cox. “The trajectory of the season is, I think, beautiful.”
Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again” premieres March 24 at 9 p.m. on Disney+.
There are 8 episodes that drop weekly on Tuesday nights.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC station.
