NEW YORK (WABC) — The LIRR will work to get all service back up and running Tuesday as limited service began on six branches in the wake of Monday’s blizzard.
Crews have been working to clean up and get things back on track.
Workers have been de-icing trains and clearing fallen trees from the tracks after Monday’s blizzard.
There was no LIRR service on Monday.

Tuesday, limited service resumed on the Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Babylon, Oyster Bay, Montauk and Port Washington branches, with other branches expected to come back online later in the day.
Bus service started Monday afternoon in Nassau County, and buses in Suffolk County are scheduled to begin running around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Most Nassau and Suffolk County schools will be closed as Long Island residents continue to dig out from the blizzard.
“I just stopped working. I went straight home to be safe, because that was the first time I’d seen my car slipping and sliding,” a resident said.
“Many times we would stand at Jamaica or be at Penn Station, so I guess this is a good thing, as long as you weren’t already stuck in the city and couldn’t get home,” a LIRR customer said.
If you rely on LIRR service, make sure you check whether your branch is running and confirm the schedule before you head out.
