NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol, a temporary holdover from the Adams administration, has submitted his resignation.
Iscol resigned effective Feb 11. If Mayor Zohran Mamdani has not named a new commissioner by then, the first deputy commissioner will take over.
“We are incredibly grateful for Commissioner Iscol’s service and the work and dedication he has brought to delivering for the people of New York City. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. We remain confident in NYCEM and their team of dedicated public servants who safely guide our city through emergencies,” said senior spokeswoman for the mayor, Dora Pekec.
Mamdani had announced before taking office that he would temporarily keep Iscol and Interim Sanitation Commissioner Javier Lojan on through the winter months to ensure continuity of crucial city services.
