Nearly 15,000 nurses across Manhattan and the Bronx went on strike Monday at hospitals operated by NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai Health System and Montefiore Medical Center. Gothamist and WNYC want to hear from New Yorkers – patients, caregivers, health care workers and others — who have been affected by the work stoppage.
Hospital leaders say they have brought in an army of replacement nurses to fill in and are taking additional steps to ensure they can keep providing safe, largely uninterrupted patient care. City and state officials say they are also monitoring the strike and coordinating with hospitals to keep things running smoothly.
But we want to hear from New Yorkers on the ground.
If you’re a hospital clinician or work in emergency medical services:
Is your employer adjusting the way they operate to respond to the strike? Have you witnessed any issues with health care access or quality related to the work stoppage?
