MONSEY, New York (WABC) — A child was rushed to the hospital after falling out the rear door of a moving school bus in Rockland County on Wednesday.
Ramapo Police Department says they received a report of unconscious pedestrian near 70 Main St. in Monsey just after 5 p.m.
Responding officers determined that the child had unintentionally activated the rear door release while riding in the moving school bus, causing the child to fall from the bus onto the roadway.
Fortunately, a vehicle traveling behind the bus was able to stop and did not hit the child, according to police.
The child was taken to Westchester County Medical Center, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
