Detectives are looking for the suspect behind a subway slashing near Union Square last week that left a straphanger seriously injured.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded at about 2:40 p.m. on April 3 aboard a southbound 4 train pulling into the 14 Street-Union Square station.
The sources said the victim, a 26-year-old man, got into a verbal argument with the suspect as they rode the train. The argument spiraled out of control and ended when the perpetrator pulled out a sharp object and slashed the 26-year-old across the face.
The victim was left with a laceration and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital by EMS, where he was treated for the injury and listed in stable condition.

The attacker was seen wearing a gray sweater, gray sweatpants, a black book bag, and glasses. He fled the station on foot.
Police have released surveillance images of the suspect in the hope that he will be recognized.
