Ewing, NJ — Volunteers are supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs Bike Exchange.
This is where community members can donate their used bikes, and then volunteers will repair and refurbish them for resale.
The proceeds from this establishment then go back into the programming for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County.
“A lot of people rely on bicycles in the Trenton area for their transportation. Bikes are entirely donated. We don’t purchase any bikes and we have a crew of 50 volunteers. Many of them are mechanics and we fix the bikes, we sell them, and every penny goes to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County,” said Manager, Ira Saltiel.
“We have raised over $2.1 million for the Boys and Girls Club…We have an incredible group of volunteers from all walks of life. They enjoy it so much that some people will work as many as 20 hours a week in here,” he continued.
“The Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County serves 1500 youth, and we partner with 28 schools in Trenton, Ewing and Lawrence. We strengthen STEM skills and literacy, and we offer creative, athletic and learning opportunities to open doors to great futures for local youth,” said Denise Barricklow, Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County Chief Development Officer.
