KEW GARDENS, Queens (WABC) — A 29-year-old man died after he was shot inside a bar in the Kew Gardens section of Queens early Tuesday morning.
The victim, Demitri McKay, was shot in the left arm inside the restaurant and bar, Hangar 11, on Metropolitan Avenue just after 1:30 a.m.
The bullet went through his arm and struck his heart. McKay was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.
Two suspects fled the scene. One was wearing a blue tracksuit and the other was wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt.
Residents say they heard a loud argument and then gunfire before they saw a panicked crowd scramble out of the bar.
It’s unclear what the dispute may have been about, but neighbors say it was loud enough to wake some of them from their sleep.
Homicide detectives found a gun on the street about a block away from where the shooting happened.
McKay’s family declined to speak to Eyewitness News and said they are still mourning his loss.
Few other details were released.
