Brooklyn detectives are seeking the suspect behind a deadly shooting at a NYCHA public housing complex on Monday evening that left a 16-year-old boy dead.
Police said the shooting occurred inside 2957 Avenue X, within the Sheepshead Houses, in Sheepshead Bay just before 6 p.m. on March 23.
Officers from the 61st Precinct rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call about the shooting. When they arrived, they found the 16-year-old boy unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his chest.
EMS rushed the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/South Brooklyn in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending proper family notification.

While police did not report what led up to the fatal shooting, they say they are searching for a male suspect, last seen wearing a blue hat, who fled the location.
Detectives could be seen entering and exiting the building throughout the night.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
Those with information regarding this incident or the suspect’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
The homicide appeared to be the first in the 61st Precinct this year; through March 22, the command had reported no murders and just one shooting.
