NEW DORP, Staten Island (WABC) — Investigators are searching for two suspects after police say Molotov cocktails were thrown at a home on Staten Island, narrowly avoiding a potentially dangerous fire.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a house on Roma Avenue in New Dorp, according to the NYPD.
Investigators say two men got out of a dark-colored vehicle and threw three Molotov cocktails through a window of the home before driving away.
The devices failed to ignite, preventing injuries and damage beyond shattered glass, police said.
Officers from the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit canvassed the neighborhood overnight, looking for evidence and possible surveillance footage.
Police and firefighters also responded to ensure the incendiary devices posed no further danger.
No one was inside the home at the time of the attack, and no injuries were reported.
So far, investigators had not released a possible motive and said the case remains under active investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
