LOS ANGELES — Disney movie fans have a lot to look forward to this year. The company has multiple titles coming out featuring stars such as Meryl Streep, Pedro Pascal, Greta Lee and Dwayne Johnson.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is the sequel fans have been waiting twenty years for! Meryl Streep reprises her role as Miranda Priestly and returns alongside Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. The film premieres May 1.
Two weeks later, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” hits theaters May 22. Get ready to go on an adventure of a lifetime through the galaxy as your favorite duo join forces to protect the new republic from the evil Empire’s loyal warlords. The “Star Wars” adventure features Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver.
There’s a different kind of battle taking place in “Toy Story 5.” Tablets and technology are taking over, leaving traditional toys to sadly sit unused. Familiar faces Jessie, Woody and Buzz Lightyear team up to win the kids back. Pixar is once again coming for our heartstrings June 19.
Next, become one with the water as the live action “Moana” reimagines the 2016 classic, with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui. See how far Moana will go on this adventure on July 10.
Jacob Elordi, fresh off his awards season run with “Frankenstein,” returns to the big screen this summer in “The Dog Stars.” The film also stars Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce. You can watch this post-apocalypse sci-fi action movie directed by Ridley Scott when it hits theaters on August 28.
In the fall, Josh Brolin stars in “Whalefall,” a movie based on the novel of the same name. It’s about a scuba diver who, while searching for his father’s remains in the ocean, gets swallowed by a sperm whale and has an hour to escape. The 20th Century Studios film releases October 16.
Disney Animation is hoping to cast a spell with its new original film “Hexed” on November 25. It delves into the life of an awkward teenage boy and his mother who discover the secret world of magic.
And to close out the year, a new group of Avengers assemble. Dozens of Marvel superheroes will join forces. The film already has some major star power with Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen and Chris Evans, among others, in the cast. This will be a sequel to “Avengers Endgame,” but the one thing that still remains a mystery is the plot line. All will be revealed when “Avengers Doomsday” lands in theaters on December 18.
