HEMPSTEAD, New York (WABC) — An adult and child were killed in a two-alarm fire in a Hempstead apartment building Friday morning.
The flames broke out in the Albemarle Avenue building just before 4:05 a.m.
The two victims were pulled from the building and taken to Nassau University Medical Center where they later died.
One firefighter was also evaluated for an ankle/foot injury.
Ten residents and a dog were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The victims’ identities have not yet been released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
