NEW YORK (WABC) — This week’s MTA Heroes are officers Kyle Schneyer and Michael Krukowski.
They’re being recognized for their quick actions during last month’s historic blizzard.
They were out on patrol when they found an overturned snowplow on Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore.
With the driver stuck inside, and the truck leaking fuel, the officers were able to pull him out to safety.
“We didn’t see any emergency vehicles on scene so, it just occurred to us that it happened pretty recently. So, with the help of a paramedic, pulled over, we were able to assist the driver in getting out. He was not hurt,” MTAPD Officer Schneyer said.
“I mean, we help anywhere we can, and we do our best with whatever happens in front of us,” MTAPD Officer Kurowski said.
While the rescue happened outside of their normal assigned area inside train stations, both officers say the thing they enjoy the most is helping commuters get to where they’re going safely.
