NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — It’s not just 2-K that’s coming to New York City this fall; there’s also going to be an expansion of 3-K.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, on Tuesday, will announce the addition of 1,000 more 3-K seats for the coming school year.
That will push the total number of slots above 40,000.
The spaces are being added in 56 zip codes including Port Richmond and Tottenville on Staten Island, the only borough which is not part of the initial 2-Care program.
Some on the borough objected on being excluded for the first 2-K round, although the Mamdani administration said they were always part of the 2027 rollout.
Some families have had trouble getting a 3-K seat near their homes during Mayor Eric Adams’ administration.
