Dramatic video captures the moment a suspected ISIS-inspired teen hurled an IED during shocking scenes outside New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Gracie Mansion home, according to police.
The short clip shows Emir Balat, 18, coming up behind a speaker addressing a small crowd outside the Upper East Side mansion Saturday before hurling something over his head and out of shot.
In the panic and confusion, Walter Masterson, a comedian and actor who had been speaking to the group, stops talking as photographers fight their way through to capture pictures of the alleged improvised explosive device.
“I was in the middle of saying ‘as a born and raised New Yorker, we welcome everyone into this city,’ when he threw that over my head,” Masterson said in a post sharing the clip of the incident on X.
Masterson was one of around 75 counterdemonstrators who showed up to protest a smaller demonstration organized by right-wing activist Jake Lang called “Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City, Stop New York City Public Muslim Prayer.”
Six people were arrested in New York City following Saturday’s unrest, including Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, who were expected to face federal charges in the terrorism investigation, the NYPD said.
Police raided Balat’s parents’ $635,000 four-bed house in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, a leafy suburb northeast of Philadelphia, and took two men and one woman in custody, local outlets said.
GBI agents were also filmed raiding Kayumi’s parents’ stunning $2.25 million, six-bed mansion in the nearby suburb of Newtown.

“Nothing like this happens around here. So it’s pretty scary,” Newtown neighbor Pamela Pulsinelli told WPVI.
A man was seen being led away from the house “with his arms up and being handcuffed and put into the fan. Insane,” Pulsinelli added.
Law enforcement sources told The Post that one of Balat and Kayumi used the Arabic expression “Allahu Akbar” (God is great), following their police interview, and one of them has asked for their lawyer.
Balat was seen holding up his index finger in an ISIS salute and smirking at the waiting photographers during his perp walk Monday morning.
