An NYPD police officer was injured Thursday trying to apprehend a suspect wanted for assault when the man threw an object that struck the officer in the head at a Bronx subway station, cops said.
The cop suffered a minor laceration after he was hit by an unknown object in the mezzanine at the Fordham Road subway station near E. 188th St. in Fordham around 5:24 p.m., according to law enforcement officials.
The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
After striking the officer in the head, the suspect fled on foot, cops said. He remained at large Thursday night.
The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was wanted for stabbing an unidentified man more than 2 miles away at E. 167th St. and Gerard Ave. in Concourse shortly after noon, police said.
The stabbing victim was taken to BronxCare Hospital Center in stable condition, where he refused to cooperate with police, according to a law enforcement source.
