FARMINGDALE, Long Island (WABC) — Several people were injured after a Long Island Rail Road train struck a vehicle on the tracks east of Farmingdale on Monday.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m., when an LIRR passenger train traveling east from Jamaica to Ronkonkoma struck a vehicle at the Little East Neck Road crossing east of the Pinelawn station, according to MTAPD.
They say three adult passengers on train reported injuries.
East Farmingdale Fire and EMS treated one of the passengers at the scene, and the two additional passengers were taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital.
There were no injuries to the train crew or occupants of the vehicle, according to MTAPD.
LIRR says service remains suspended as crews assess the damage and make repairs to tracks at the scene.
They say the 40 passengers on board the train were provided with bus service to get them to their destination.
The Ronkonkoma Branch is temporarily suspended in both directions east of Farmingdale.
