RIVERDALE, The Bronx (WABC) — Three people were shot, two fatally, in an apparent murder-suicide in the Bronx on Thursday.
Police responded to an apartment building on Johnson Avenue in the Riverdale section just before 8 a.m.
A 55-year-old man and 59-year-old woman were found shot in the head. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
An 86-year-old woman was found shot in the face. She was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Detectives believe the man fatally shot his sister, shot his mother and then shot himself.
The man was discovered in the hallway, and a firearm was recovered next to him.
A Port Authority Police Department identification was found near his body, and police believe he was a retired Port Authority Police officer.
His sister was found in a bedroom, and their mother was then discovered in another part of the ground-floor apartment.
Detectives are investigating the incident as a domestic shooting, and an apparent murder-suicide.
