NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — After hours of quiet weather, snow fell once again in much of the Tri-State Area.
A fast-moving winter storm is bringing steady snowfall across the region Sunday evening, with accumulations expected to create slick and potentially hazardous travel conditions through midnight.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect, with 1 to 3 inches of snow forecast for most of the area, especially New York City, Long Island, and locations north and east of the city.
The storm took a toll on travel as airport delays and dangerous black ice caused headaches.
Nearly 900 flights were delayed at the three major airports.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says nearly 1,000 sanitation workers were out with more than 700 salt spreaders. The mayor says the number of workers is expected to double on Sunday to about 2,000.
Saturday’s snowstorm was the first of the year and the first for Mamdani since he took office.
While Saturday’s snow came in quickly and packed a punch across the area, Sunday’s snowfall is expected to stick even more as temperatures continue to drop.
In response, the NYC Department of Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory and activated the city’s winter weather emergency plan, warning that the heaviest accumulation will occur between 8 a.m. and noon.
The city’s Department of Sanitation and Office of Emergency Management are both urging drivers to slow down while on the roads.
“Take it easy, take it slow. We’ve had instances where we have treated the roadways and motorists are just going a little too fast,” acting NYC Sanitation Commissioner Javier Lojan said.

Eyewitness News caught up with runner David Lee in Central Park, who is braving Sunday’s weather to get in his daily dose of exercise.
“I run every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays, race walk actually, and do a little running religiously for the past probably 30 years,” Lee said.
While Lee was initially hesitant to make the trek outside, he decided to go through with it.
“You know, I was conflicted a little bit. I was thinking, I don’t know, I do it in the snow all the time, but this morning it feels cold and kind of wet. But yeah, I’m ok and I’m out here,” he said.
