GREENPOINT, Brooklyn (WABC) — A magical display of lights took place over the East River in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on Monday night, as hundreds of drones put on a show to raise awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that raises money for pediatric healthcare for 170 children’s hospitals in North America, helping ease the hospital journey for kids and families and fund lifesaving research.
CEO Aimee Daily says the drone show is a bat signal of sorts for an urgent need.
“Every minute 72 kids enter one of our children’s hospitals. That’s 12 million kids a year that need care,” Daily said. “And as our country grows, as the population grows, as the needs are even greater, we need more help.”
Bundled families watched in awe as 300 synchronized drones dance in the sky, forming CMN’s balloon logo, a hospital and symbols of love.
The drone show was a teaser of sorts to a show of commitment coming Tuesday. The Children’s Miracle Network will be launching a major rebrand to bring even more awareness to the work it does, and will be announcing a big new push for fundraising.
