SOUNDVIEW, The Bronx (WABC) — A worker is speaking out following a violent robbery inside a cellphone store in the Bronx.
The terrifying moments were caught on video as three masked people entered a Total Wireless store in the Soundview section, and forced Arshad Khan into a back room.
“They told me if you try to fight with me, we’ll kill you,” Khan said.
Khan could be heard screaming for his life as the suspects delivered blow after blow to his face before shoving him into the bathroom and blocking the door.
“I told the guy, I’ll help you,” Khan said. “Lock me in the bathroom and took the key from pocket and took cash and everything.”
Khan says the suspects got away with a handful of phones and about $800.
He managed to break out of the bathroom. Medics treated him at the scene.
The robbery happened near Westchester and Teylor avenues on Dec. 3 around 11:30 a.m.
Just two weeks earlier on Nov. 13, in the Van Ness section of the Bronx, police say two men walked into another Total Wireless store and stole cellphones and money.
A worker who identified herself as Ety says she wasn’t harmed, but was also forced into a bathroom before the suspects got away.
Both workers are fearful, and hoping for swift arrests.
“I locked the door most of the time,” Ety said. “I don’t know if they are good or bad, but I don’t take the risk anymore.”
“Sometimes I feel nervous, especially in the evenings,” Khan said.
All the suspects managed to run away.
If you recognize the suspects or have information about the robberies, you’re urged to contact detectives.
