BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) — A fire at an apartment building in Brooklyn led to several rescues on Monday.
The fire broke out on the third floor of a six-story brownstone at 62 Pierrepont St. between Hicks and Henry streets in Brooklyn Heights just after 3:30 p.m.
NewsCopter 7 was overhead as firefighters worked to rescue three people from the fire escape.
The FDNY says seven people were injured, including five civilians and two firefighters.
Three civilians refused medical attention but two were transported to area hospitals with severe injuries.
One firefighter was also transported with a severe injury and another was evaluated on scene, officials said.
The fire was placed under control just before 4:30 p.m.
Fire marshals are investigating.
