A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Sunday at 5:08 p.m. for snow showers until 6 p.m. for Clinton, Franklin and Essex counties.
“At 5:07 p.m., snow showers were reported along a line extending from near Saranac New York to near Fairfax Vermont. Movement was east at 35 mph,” says the weather service. “Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Low visibility may pose a hazard to motorists.”
Locations impacted by the alert include Plattsburgh International Airport, Cambridge, Schuyler Falls, Cambridge Village, Westford, Colchester, South Hero, Peru, Plattsburgh, Saranac, Milton, Hyde Park Village, Morrisville Village, Morristown, Underhill, AuSable, Grand Isle, Essex, Fairfax and Georgia. This includes the following highways: Interstate 87 between mile markers 142 and 152. Interstate 89 between mile markers 95 and 105.
The weather service states, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.”
Hazards include winds 25 mph or greater, and visibility less than a mile.
