It’s possible that we’ve heard different folklore sayings. Some examples include “you can’t judge a book by its cover” and “early bird catches the worm”.
When it comes to the weather in New York state, we all have an opinion about it. We can learn weather proverbs and how they relate to our area.
Have You Heard of These Fun Weather Proverbs, Folk Sayings?
During each season in New York state, we experience different types of weather. Spring and summer are my favorite seasons and I always look forward to warmer, sunnier days. It’s beautiful to see the green grass, flowers blossoming and the return of our furry friends.
I find myself looking at The Weather channel app on my phone all throughout the year to see what’s ahead. We may have heard of sayings that relate to the weather and have simply forgotten about them.
The National Park Service also shared some weather proverbs/lore sayings that we may recognize. These included,
“The higher the clouds, the better the weather”.
“If birds fly low, expect rain and a blow.”
We can keep these weather proverbs in mind while we’re outdoors during each season.
What New York State’s Christmas Weather Could Reveal About 2026
The Old Farmers Almanac shared some interesting weather predictions and folklores relating to the weather on Christmas. I was excited to learn about these sayings and share them with others.
For those who believe, it gives us an idea of what we can expect in 2026 from the weather we’ll see on Christmas. The Old Farmers Almanac shared,
“If Christmas day be bright and clear,
there’ll be two winters in the year.”
They also explained,
“Christmas in snow, Easter in mud!”
Another weather proverb, folklore saying from The Old Farmers Almanac suggests,
“So many hours of Sun on Christmas Day, so many frosts in the month of May.”
Will We See Snow On Christmas In New York State?
The Old Farmers Almanac’s Facebook page shared a helpful map that we can share. It highlights the prediction of snow and shows each state on the map. According to this map, it appears that there will be a white Christmas in New York state.
Social media users in the comments section of this Facebook post, shared their opinions. They highlighted that they look forward to a white Christmas and want to go ice skating.
